The case for animal experimentation
Chapter one: Fallacies in Our thinking About Animals

Summary

In the chapter “Fallacies in Our thinking About Animals”( The case for animal experimentation, 1986), the author, Fox Michael Allen stated that any animal ought be used for any human end. In this chapter the author started describing some of the reason why people are concerned about animal testing. The author also pointed out that the issue had growth because that there is just one side of the issue that is showed; the side in which animal are suffering in scientific research, but that the side that is putting a huge effort to “maintain and improve the standards of animal care” (The case for animal experimentation, Fallacies in Our thinking About Animals, 1986, pg 10). The author also brought to the light the fact that Scientifics were using animals to do experiments, in order to improve the standards of life of the humankind centuries ago, and that antivivisectionist were as old as animal experimentation. The author also mentioned that the reason why antivivisectionist were against animal testing was because in ancient times anesthetic were not discovered yet, this means that the animal could feel the pain during the whole experiment that was being performed on it. The author also claimed that the biggest grounds against animal testing are the “philosophical or ethical ground”(The case for animal experimentation, Fallacies in Our thinking About Animals, 1986,pg14). The author also ilustred that some people think that certain experiments performed on cute animal such as, cats or dogs are morally wrong, but experiment that are performed on other animals such as frogs, mice, pigs do not received any kind of protest. The author concluded that some people have an irrational thinking toward animals.

Hi, Alejandro
You wrote the facts and the author’s opinion in an object way, but some part I still felt a little bit confused. I think you could use more transition word between a lot of “the author also…”. By the way, you present you summary well in the class.
Is your topic about animal testing? This author’s opinion was quite different from the majority of others. How about your opinion? I will look forward of your presentation next time.

Your summary was good to understand and
objective. Hence, for me it was easier to comprehend. Nevertheless, there were many "The author stated", so please explain in more condensed way in order to understand well. However, the topic is interesting so
that it attacts many people to read.
Your presentation was as this summary was written, and the next one is to be expected.

Alejandro!

Again you did a great job. You have to continue summarizing what you read, even after this course is finished! :D:D:D
But please, as Siyan said, try to use synonyms in your summaries. But the way you've done your job, is really fantastic. So Congratulation!

Alejandro kun!!!Hello, I am Hachan!! Thank you for your comment on my blog. It is the first time to coment on your blog. Actually, I was thinking the same topic as you at first, but I thought it is difficult for me because it would be related to the law about animals...so, I think you can search in terms of the laws...
